Ok, so Brittany & Brooke's 3rd birthday is coming up this month and I have decided to get them a play kitchen for their toy room. I have narrowed it down to these two and cannot decide for the life of me which one to get. So, I thought I would post them on here and see if I could get some opinions. So, here they are! Let me know what you think. The only difference between the two is the first one has three battery operated components (the stove, microwave and phone) and the second one has five battery operated componants (the stove, microwave, phone, overhead light and clock).

Just so you know, the first one isn't as huge as it looks and the wood floor on there is actually just foam. I just think it's cute... dont' want to be extravagant and spoil the kids or anything. However, I have to keep in mind that two toddlers are going to be playing with it at the same time and they are in that stage where they fight over everything so I need something spacious enough or with enough different things on it to keep them both entertained without fighting over one thing. That's the biggest reason I narrowed it down to these two. There were lots of other great play kitchens, but too small and the girls would likely just fight over the space and play centers on the others that I saw.
I say fewer batteries means fewer noises for the toy to make. Quieter ALWAYS = better in my mind.
Normally I would say, simple is good...but since you need room for two, the bigger one might be better...good luck deciding!
So far everyone thinks I should go with the first (everyone here and on the Cochran blog). I just realized tonight that the inside part of the first one is 25" by 23". I measured it out with measuring tape today and Dale and I were kinda surprised by how small of a space it is on the inside. Do you think that'll cause problems, considering all the cool play stuff is on the inside and the girls will more than likely want to be in there and not on the outside? Decisions, decision... I was leaning towards this one too, but now I'm wondering if the play area inside is too small.
I say the smaller one. Their imaginations at that age are sufficient enough to compensate for a phone or overhead light. Plus I see some rastling matches going on inside that first one when things start to get a little crowded. I don't know...that's just me.
From a nanas point of view I can bet you any amount of money the overhead light and clock wont be enough to make it necessary - and as a thought you might want to consider a more open area such as individual pieces, 2 or more, that could be moved arount into different locations to open them up and free the congestion inside the play area - how about a separate stove, sink/microwave, and refrig - or any combination of same in an open configuration?
interesting, Dee. I'm going to check that out online and see what I can find. If I can't find anything, I'm leaning towards the small one. I think Courtney's right... there would be some serious wrestling matches if I went with the U-shaped one.
I think smaller is always better--but then I live in a tiny house in CO instead of a nice spread for the same $ in Texas!
