Today was the day for Malia to get her cast off. I explained to her this morning that she was going to get it off and the first thing she said was, "Oh good, now I can suck my thumb." DANG IT. I thought we were breaking that whole thing. She had been sucking her other thumb but only when she went to bed. Just as soon as she got her cast off, the thumb went in the mouth and she gave me the "I'm in my happy place" look. Oh well...it could be worse. I am glad to have that cast off. It got in the way of baths and long sleeve shirts and hanging on the swingset. Oh yeah, and I won't be sad not to be knocked in the head with that thing at least twice a day.

I am so excited for her and you. I love that the thumb went right in her mouth. I took the binky's away during the day and when they go to bed at night I let them have them to sleep. They give me the same look.( like they missed them so much) So funny.
She does look content. I guess I should worry more about my thumb suckers, but I don't. Does it really matter? I'm sure at least half of my kids would need braces whether they sucked or not, so I just let it go. Good luck with the potty training.

Dude, I'm with Malia. Not that I want to suck my thumb or anything (ok, sometimes but only when work gets REALLY stressful) but that casts are the devil. The day I got mine off, I did a happy dance. If she wants to suck her thumb to celebrate, I'm saying she fully earned it.
Although I am not a fan of thumb-sucking, Malia does it so well I have to make an exception. She truly looks like she is in her happy place. I too will miss her bright pink cast but I did come home with bruises from my last visit and my encounters with her weapon.

I am so glad her cast is off. However, she looks so cute with it! Abby looked cute with hers too. I can't believe she is getting so big. We found out we are having a boy today. We are excited! Carrie
Yay Malia! Seems like the time she has had her cast on just flew by. Although, I'm sure with all the bruises you have now, you'd disagree. Brittany is a thumb-sucker too (as you've probably guessed from the looks of her two front teeth... definitely see braces in her future.)
Carrie, congrats on finding out you're having a boy!!! Bet Mark is doing a MAJOR happy dance with that news! I didn't realize you're already that far along, I'm assuming around 5 months? You're impressive being able to not tell anyone for that long. I can't go even a day knowing the news that I'm pregnant and not telling anyone.

I thought it was that Carrie too. I was thinking Carrie would have to be getting padded walls because Mark would be chest-bumping so many of them!
