Happy Birthdee Michelley!

As I'm sure you can imagine, a little birdie...er Penguin put me up to blogging about Meemer's birthday. Ah Michelle. For Michelle's birthdee post, I think we need to recall all of our fondest Michelle memories. One of mine is from living next door to Michelle in Provo at the ever glamorous Riviera (oooh, exotic...). Anywho, I whipped up a birthdee cake for Michelle and she was honestly more excited about having her very own cake from which she could lick off ALL the frosting without having to feign eating any part of the cake portion than she was about the fact that it was her birthday! I'm telling you it looked like absolute glee to me! (Anyone wondering where her kids get their collective frosting affinity from?) I still tease her to this day, or dee rather, about having frosting in her eyebrows from getting so excited that she just smashed her face into the frosting. (Incidentally, she never did have frosting in her eyebrows... at least not that I saw, but really, would any of us put it past her? I think not!)

I've got plenty more memories which I'm sure I'll post later, but for now, I turn it over to you folks. And Michelle, as our friend the Penguin is so aptly demonstrating below, it's always a good idea to blow your candles out before smashing your face into your cake...er frosting, as it were. Happy frosting eating and Happy Birthdee!!!

I think my favorite memory consists of a period of time actually, when she was my Young Womens leader. All my friends had left for college so I made Michelle and her kids my new BFF's. It was fun hanging out with her as friends more than big sister/little sister. Especially during times like girls camp where I would ditch breakfasts, certifications, and the hike and hang out with Michelle (who was also ditching) instead.

Oh another favorite of mine is when mom and I were visiting her in Fresno and she chased me around Nordstroms Rack screaming "poppy!" as part of her act of pretending to be my special needs friend.

Michelle, Tammy beat me to the tribute. I just wanted to say that you have been a good friend to me from day one. Honestly, Justin partially has you to thank that I said yes because we had so much fun at those weekly Sunday dinners at your Branbury apt. I remember getting the full tour of your place from Rick, and hiding Milky Way Eggs in every corner once. We were overcome with jealousy when you and Rick moved home to CA. We emailed regularly, almost daily wasn't it? I wish I had those emails! I always felt (still do) like you were older and wiser and was grateful you were so kind and accepting of me. Remember the days in CA when you were basically my chauffeur? Never once did you make me feel bad about that. The days when Emma and Jake napped while we quilted or scrapbooked or watched Rosie. The days at the pool and the park. I remember you taking Emma and Camille from me when they were screaming babies and I wanted to drop or smother them. You have been a great friend always, put up with lots of my whining and complaining, listened to my lame arguments with Justin and liked us both the same when I was done, and you are a great example to me of how to be a good devoted mother and wife. You are the best, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

There are too many memories to list. Some of my favorite were swapping stories when we were on our missions at the same time. Except when she sent me a picture of her vaccuuming her carpet when I was living in an tin house with a tar-paper roof and dirt floors. That was just cold Missy.
But who can forget staying up all night on Christmas Eve. "Come here Raison Bran, I'll save you."
Can anyone else remember Super Big Gulps in Sacrament Meeting?
My favorite memory of all time I don't even remember. You see, Michelle carried me until I was 18 months old. She was such a good sister that I didn't even have to walk on my own. She was there for me. Is there any question why I was called "General Fats?" ...HBD Michelle.

Michelle,

It was nice of you to have a birthday so that I could go to the family blog and see pictures of penguins while I am in the middle of a killer take home final. I went to bed at 2:30 this morning and have been a little woosey all day. At one point today at work, I was sure the penguin was going to show up with a martini glass in his hand, but no luck. Anyways, Happy Birthday. Congratulations on surviving all those kids.

Michelle, I'm still not over you stealing my sandwich.

Happy birthday.

As far as other memories, anyone want to translate "Ahoy! Ahoy!"

Come on, you remember, New Years, Thuesens, the hills behind our house.

Good times.

hey michelle... thanks for the comment! i would LOVE to have a pasta party with you... i'll make my super secret sauce if you make yours. =D mormon prom is something that the church put together for the teens so that they don't have to be 'pressured by innapropriate dancing' of the regular school dances. it's actually pretty fun from what i've heard. but yeah! keep the comments coming!

Oh Michelle, I feel so stupid! I practically was there for your birthday (okay, the days around it) and I still managed to forget it. Can I blame pregnancy brain? Or over worked brain? Or too much Easter candy brain? Or most likely, no brain!

Anyway, thanks for taking me in as another little sis. You've been such a voice a reason and encouragement for me. And you recommended two fabulous books--Da Vinci Code and Secret Life of Bees. You're amazing and I'm grateful to be a SIL!

Un guys, again I'm late at posting but I did actually have the pleasure of seeing Michelle on her birthday and gorging myself with Cold Stone Ice Cream on her behalf...my thighs thank you. So you want to know about fond memories?? Lets start by pointing out that I had the peasure of wearing a certain pair of green hand me down pants that Michelle had shoved eggs in the pocket of. The BYU days when Michelle, Mahele, Marissa and I sat on the floor of my dorm room and ate an entire ice cream cake out of the box--no plates needed, just forks. Then there was the time I decided to go to JoAnn's Fabric store to get something. Mackenzie a little over a year old and I ( the mother of the year here) was feeding her m&ms. She decided that would be a good time to choke and vomited m&ms into my hand (now mind you I had left my diaper bag in the car since I was just making a quick in). I have no wipes, chocolate vomit in my hand, a screaming baby and an entire fabric store of women just staring at me...and then who walks in??? Michelle with Jake to save the day--she even came armed with wipes!! I could go on and on...but you'll have to ask Michelle personally about the shower story when mackenzie discovered boobeies!!
